Author Debuts I Have Yet to Read

Top 10 Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
There aren't too many debuts I'm anticipating this year, but there are quite a few debuts on my TBR that I have yet to read.

1. The Help by Kathryn Stockett
This is Stockett's first and only novel, so I'm amazed at it's popularity. I've never heard a bad word about this book and it's the book that's been sitting on my TBR for the longest time.

2. Art in the Blood by Bonnie MacBird
A book I got from a school author visit that I've still yet to read! Bonnie was lovely with her expertise on all things Sherlock Holmes I think her book will be great.

3. The Love that Split the World by Emily Henry
I am in love with the cover of this book and the premise sounds very sweet and magical. I know it has mixed reviews but I'm hoping it's something I'll like.

4. The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
The only debut on this list that's being published in 2017. With such an important subject matter at hand this is something I know I have to read and will definitely be sharing with others.

5. Solitaire by Alice Oseman
I loved and really related to Oseman's Radio Silence. I don't read very much British contemporary or British lit in general so it really stuck with me, and I want to read her first book too.

6. The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden
This book sounds like it has a strong winter fairy tale vibe which makes it sound like a perfect read right about now. Plus I have an e-ARC so I should be diggining into it soon.

What debut novels have you yet to read?

  1. The Love That Split the World was on my TBR last year and an anticipated debut I never got to as well. Too many books and not enough time! My Top Ten

    2. Pretty much. I was sitting in my library thinking about how many books on my shelves i have yet to read and started counting.....I recommend not doing unless you are trying to squash a desire to buy books.

  2. I'm surprised you haven't heard of the problems with The Help. Here's a few articles from black people explaining it for further reading:

(this one is all about the book, very good (though all the articles are.))

    1. Oh gosh I didn't know any of this. I found a copy in a charity shop and had heard so so much about it - I never realised all the problems it had. Probably going to give this book a miss then. Thanks :)
