June Wrap Up // The End of Exam Madness

I had my exams this month, so I did very little reading. What I did read was mostly kids/middle grade books. I love reading them in stressful times because they're easy going and a good break from exams because they are never too intense.

Books Every Sci-Fi Superstar Should Read

Top 10 Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and The Bookish.
A while ago I posted books for the Fantasy Fanatic, and as I like terrible humour, here are some books for the Sci-Fi Superstar (lame I know).

Mini Review // Beyond The Kingdoms by Chris Colfer

Title: Beyond the Kingdoms (The Land of Stories #4)
Writer: Chris Colfer
Genre: Fantasy, Magic, Retelling
Rating: 5 stars
Goodreads | Book Depository

Funny, sweet, and amazingly crafted. I had my doubts when I discovered the series would start expanding to other universes, but all of the world building meant it made perfect sense. The structure and pacing was good as always and I never saw the plot twists coming. The series continues to be a truthful retelling of fairytales yet remains consistently original.

The Selection by Kiera Cass // Shallow, artificial, and hardly a dystopia

Title: The Selection (The Selection #1)
Author: Kiera Cass
Genre: Romance
Rating: 1 star
Goodreads Review | Book Depository
I predicted from the beginning that The Selection and I just weren't meant to be, but I wanted to give it a chance before I dismissed it for another romance masquerading as a dystopia.

I'll start by saying I've never been a fan of stories about royalty. To me, all of them can be summed up as: a court of catty airheads + poor new girl + Mr Oh-So-Dreamy making her forget about the boy back home (case and point: Red Queen). And although I tried to go in with an open mind, The Selection had every one of the above qualities.

Why Books End Up On The Bottom of Your TBR

Somewhere under the never ending pile of books, there comes an end. The books at the bottom of this pile have been neglected for newer, shinier books, forgotten by their owners as the pile stacks higher. There are many reasons certain books are neglected, and I am here to list a few of them.

Ms. Marvel, Vol 5 // Better Than Ever

Title: Ms. Marvel, Vol 5: Super Famous
Writer: G. Willow Wilson
Genre: Graphic Novel, Superheroes
Rating: 5 stars
Goodreads | Book Depository
I LOVED this volume! Ms. Marvel is better than ever. Now that she's an Avenger she's got a lot more on her plate. A mysterious company has plans to take over Jersey City, and Kamala suspects they're not as innocent as they seem. But with so much going on it feels like she needs to be in multiple places at once.

Ms. Marvel, Vol 4 // so much better

Title: Ms. Marvel, Vol 4: Last Days
Writer: G. Willow Wilson
Artist: Adrian Alphona
Genre: Graphic Novel, Superheroes
Rating: 5 stars
Goodreads | Book Depository
Despite really not liking Volume 3, this volume might possibly be my favourite.

For me, 2016 releases have been kind of hit and miss. I've loved some and hated others. But no time for hate! I'm going to spread some love about some beautiful books published this year.

June Break - I'll be back on the 21st!

Hi there lovely readers. It's exam time, as I'm sure it is for many of you, and I have vowed to be 100% inactive on my blog in June until after my last exam (21st). But fear not! Astronomical Books will be back better than ever after the break and I hope to see you then.

If it's exam season where you are then I wish you all the best and hope you get the grades you want <3
