This week is a thanksgiving freebie, so I've decided to list a few authors I'm thankful for.
1. Chris Colfer
Chris' The Land of Stories series is aimed at kids but it always makes me smile whenever I'm down because of the simple recontructed fairytale magic behind them. I like to save them for whenever I'm feeling down.

2. V.E. Schwab
Even though I only read my first book by Victoria this year, she's suddenly become one of the people I idolise most in the world. I aspire to have even a fraction of her writerly talent. She is just so gifted, escpecially when it comes to creating unique and original stories.

3. Patrick Ness
Patrick never ceases to amaze me with his books. Each and every one is incredibly well crafted and individual, it's easy to forget their written by the same author - but they contain ideas in them that only he can successfully pull off.

4. Maggie Stievater
I have be thankful to Maggie, because she created Blue and the gang from The Raven Cycle. Somehow the most magical thing about this series was the friendship between her characters. I connected with these characters in a way unlike any others, and they hold a special place in my heart.

5. John Green
I rarely enjoy contemporary, and although I've only read 2 of John's books I loved them anyway. He's a very real and relatable person whom I deeply admire for his work even outside of his writing, and even if he doesn't publish another book I will continue to follow his work and be inspired by him.

I enjoy reading every single author on your list. These are great picks and there is some great writing talent there.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like all these authors too - I agree that some of them are truly talented writers :)
DeleteI love Schwab too! <3 I love almost alll her works, like all the stars for her books because they're so good and I also like John Green! My favorite would be Looking for Alaska and just like you, I'm waiting for him to publish another book :D I've only read The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stievfater but I really want to read her other books too! Great list <3

Schwab is incredible! Definitely my favourite author - plus she's so lovely in person too!
DeleteI haven't read Looking for Alaska but I liked TFIOS and really liked Paper Towns. Not my typical genre but I just really like his ideas. Even if he doesn't publish another book at least he'll still be making videos and podcasts which honestly make my day.
I've also only read The Raven Cycle by Maggie but I'm not sure I want to read her older stuff. The Shiver series feels like something I ought to have read when I was younger in the Twilight era and I'm worried it'll ruin the magic of TRC for me. But I'm super excited for her future books (a Ronan series? yes please).
Thanks :D
