May & June Wrap Up

I've combined my wrap up post for May and June because I did really little reading in May and was also on a blogging break for most of that month. But I am back once more, and after a bit of a struggle to get back into reading, I actually found a couple of books I really loved.

Reading Wrap Up
  • Noteworthy - Even though it wasn't totally what I expected and I didn't like it as much as Redgate's debut, this brought total joy to my theatre-y heart. ★★★☆☆
  • Simon vs. - This was a reread because I needed something light (curse exam season) and it totally did the trick. Simon and Blue are the cutest and the casting news has me freaking out in the best way. ★★★★☆
  • Carry On - So I was a dumb and thought I wouldn't like this book as much the second time around. I was wrong! I know it isn't a literary masterpiece or anything but sometimes I just can't help falling in love with a dumb, sweet book. ★★★★★
  • False Hearts - Aaaah I feel bad because I honestly had such high expectations for this. But it ended up being a lot of cool ideas that didn't execute well. ★★☆☆☆
  • When Dimple Met Rishi - Cue the gasps of horror: I didn't like this! I didn't have anything against it and I love the #ownvoices rep but I just felt pretty emotionless towards it? Idk maybe I should just stay clear of anything labelled fully romance. ★★☆☆☆
  • The Gentleman's Guide - This book saved my fears of falling into a slump with how crazy fun it was! It just made me really happy but was also pretty deep which I was surprised by but really liked. ★★★★☆
  • Ash and Quill - Literally one of my favourite series and it's still going strong! Not my favourite of The Great Library series so far but it's still amazing and I don't know how I wait every year honestly. ★★★★★

Book Haul
  • Crooked Kingdom - When this was released first in the UK it was a giant brick in comparison to my Six of Crows copy (I don't understand publishing why do they do this to me) but finally I have it in a decent human size. ★★★★★
  • Our Dark Duet - TBR - I've got to reread TSS first. But SOON.

    1. I'm glad you liked it so much! All the excitment has me looking forward to it even more and hating that I don't have the time to read it yet! I agree that The Gentleman's Guide is also fantasticly awesome and I'm so happy about all the love it's getting because it's 110% deserved. Thanks for visiting :D

  2. I'm SO glad you enjoyed The Gentleman's Guide to Vice & Virtue. I ordered a copy for myself after hearing nothing but RAVES about it, so I'm hoping it lives up to the hype. I actually agree with you about When Dimple Met Rishi - I had some big problems with Dimple's character, and how she treats Rishi in their relationship. :(

I NEED to get my hands on a copy of Our Dark Duet too. Schwab is such a fantastic writer. Great post. :)

    1. I hope The Gentleman's Guide lives up to the hype for you too! It's unique in that it's a work of historical fiction but it's incredibly diverse and acknowledges the challenges of that within the era it's set. But also because it's an easy read and a lot of fun!
I'm glad you also felt weird about When Dimple Met Rishi - I'd seen nothing but incredibly positive things which is what made me request it on Netgalley.
I hope you manage to find yourself a copy of ODD and I hope you enjoy it when you do!
