Books I Could Re-Read Forever

Whenever life feels to busy for me to absorb new stories, I love going back to a book I've read once before. Re-reading allows you to revisit a story you already know and love to live it all over again, without the fear of what happens next. It's a more relaxed reading experience, and often you can find small gems that you missed before in your first read and make you fall in love with the book even more.

Today I'm going to list 12 books that I'm always in the mood to be re-reading. I discovered all of these in the last few years, so I've only re-read 4 of them, but these 12 books are ones that I don't think I would get tired of revisiting.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
I found this book so relatable when I first read it, and I suspect I would find it even more so now. Rainbow Rowell's writing is sweet and lovely to read.

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
I have read Carry On twice and I loved it both times. It is a fantasy novel but it is really easy to breeze through, making perfect for a re-read.

They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera
I didn't read this too long ago, but every day since I finished it I have wanted to read it again. The messages were beautiful and the story was so moving.

Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
I've read Simon vs. twice because it is the perfect light read. The friendships and romance are so heartwarming and I can never put it down.

Because You'll Never Meet Me by Leah Thomas
I adore this duology, and I'm saving re-reading it for a rainy day. The story is heartbreaking at times, but the characters mean a lot to me.

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz
I read this once in 2015 and once in 2016, and it was difficult not to read it again in 2017. These characters and their story is beautiful and I could read it in a day.

Radio Silence by Alice Oseman
I get the feeling this will be a book that I love more the second time around. I could relate to these characters so much and I can't wait to fall in love with this story again.

Release by Patrick Ness
Release was dreamily written yet I felt so awake when reading it. I think it is my favourite Ness book, but if I'm honest, I want to re-read all of them because they're magnificent.

The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater
I adore this series more than words can say, so much so that when I re-read it I was scared I wouldn't love it as much. But both times I fell into the magic of Henriette with ease.

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
This duology is fantastic, particularly the second book. I want to re-read them back to back so I can live this adventure and obsess over these characters all over again.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
This was the first of the books on this list that I read, and it took my breath away. Every Autumn and Winter I want to re-read it to relive the magic.

Vicious by V.E. Schwab
As my favourite book by my favourite author, it's no surprise Vicious made this list. I don't want to forget any detail about this brilliantly written and structured book.

What books could you read over and over again? What is a book you plan to re-read soon?

This post was inspired by the prompt 'Books I Could Re-Read Forever' on Top 10 Tuesday, hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

  1. I've been too scared to reread Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, because I loved it so much first time around, but I'm planning to pick it up again before Love, Simon is released so that it's fresh in my mind.

I definitely agree that Fangirl and Radio Silence have great rereadability: I've only read them once each, but they're books that I want to read again, because the characters feel like really good friends which I've grown distant from and need to catch up with.

    1. I was also initially worried to re-read it in case I didn't love it as much, but there was nothing to worry about - it's still just as perfect the second time. I hope you enjoy your re-read! I'm really excited for Love, Simon!

You've summed up my feelings on Fangirl and Radio Silence perfectly. They are two of the books I relate the most to and even though I've read them once each I'm always thinking about how those characters are doing :)

  2. I used to reread books all the time when I was younger, but I haven’t reread anything now in years! I definitely keep meaning too though, and Fangirl is one in particular that springs to mind, as I found it super relatable too. I still haven’t read Carry On though, so I should probably try and get round to reading that as well.
I’ve also been intending to reread all the Harry Potter books at some point soon, as I’ve not read them in years! :)

    1. I'm actually the reverse of you! The first time I re-read a book was only a few years ago, but it is difficult to find the time these days when there are always thousands more new and exciting books to discover.

They are all excellent books - I hope you enjoy your re-reads of them, or in the case of Carry On I hope you enjoy it generally!

  3. AHH much excellence on this list! First off, Fangirl and Carry On are due for a re-read for me, as is Vicious. I loved Radio Silence and I must read They Both Die At The End and Release. BUT the best books ever are Simon VS (of course), Six of Crows and Because You'll Never Meet Me. Precious children! <33

    1. That's fair enough. A lot of contemporary style writing doesn't work for me. But aaaa those Sci-Fi/Fantasy books are so addictive! If I had all the reading time in the world I would have revisited them many more times than I already have.

  11. I love this post! I reread Santino Hassell novels monthly DD: And I reread the Twilight series whenever I am studying or going through exams :D

I just finished reading The Raven Boys for the first time and loved it! Totally reread material. So many of the books on this list are on my TBR as well.

    1. Thanks, Olivia! I've never read a Santino Hassel novel, and I haven't read Twilight either D: I've been thinking about reading Twilight though, although it might be too late! I also have books I like to re-read during exams. for me it's Simon vs and Carry On. Exam time was also when I read the Percy Jackson books which were perfect lighter reads.

I'm obsessed with The Raven Boys. I haven't re-read them since before The Raven King but I really want to just to pick up on all of Maggie's epic foreshadowing. I hope you get to read all the books you want to!
