May Wrap Up // two new contemporary favourites

Sorry for the inactivity, friends! It's exam season and I've been a little preoccupied lately with applying for jobs, so I'm afraid I haven't been able to blog or read very much. I will respond to comments as soon as I can, but for now, the priority has to be essays. My last exam is June 12th, so hopefully a little after then I will be back to normal!

Reading Wrap Up
I Was Born For This and A Thousand Perfect Notes might be two new contemporary favourites for me! I always thought myself as a serious sci-fi/fantasy fan, but this year the contemporary genre has been blowing me away.
In terms of the other two books, I've made a deliberate decision to no longer write negative reviews on this blog or on Goodreads. I have posted quick Netgalley reviews out of obligation, but I've realised that I'm getting nothing out of writing entire posts filled with negativity. If any of you are ever curious about why I rate a book in a certain way I'm happy to talk about it (and if you ask me about any potential triggering content a book may have I will gladly let you know all that I can). But I've decided I want my blog to be a space of positivity. I'll still rate books honestly on Goodreads and in these wrap up posts, but unless I feel there is something I really need to add to the conversation, you should find that from now on the reviews on this blog will be 3 stars or higher.

Post Wrap Up
My two non-review posts this month were a lot of fun to write! There are so many incredible unpublished books that I am extremely looking forward to, which I share in the first post. And in my Latest Love post, I talk about rediscovering my love for the world of Avatar.

What did you read this month? Did you have any favourites? Have you read any of the books I read or are any of them on your TBR? Tell me your thoughts!

  1. Ahh The Beginning of the World is one I'm looking forward to read! Why didn't you enjoy it though, if I may ask? :) Good luck with all your exams!

    1. For me personally, the langauge didn't draw me in. It might have been that short stories don't normally work for me, but the premises of some of them were really intriguing. I hope you enjoy it though, and thank you!

  2. I hope your exams go well and that you'll be able to find a job as well! It sounds like you're really busy so don't worry - the blog can take a backseat for a while. We'll always be here ;) It's fair! If you don't enjoy writing negative reviews then you don't have to, because you don't have to do anything you don't want to do ^.^

    1. Thanks, Olivia! My blog always seems to take a backseat in May/June time because of assessments but I should be back and ready to blog again soon!
