Somewhere under the never ending pile of books, there comes an end. The books at the bottom of this pile have been neglected for newer, shinier books, forgotten by their owners as the pile stacks higher. There are many reasons certain books are neglected, and I am here to list a few of them.
Crime: Not Remembering What Happened
Culprit: Artemis Fowl and The Last Guardian by Eion Colfer
On TBR since: February 2014
Why I have taken so long: Artemis Fowl was my childhood, but it's been so long since I've read the series that I recall nothing of what happened so I have been avoiding reading the final book.
Crime: Distracted by New Releases
Culprit: The Help by Kathryn Stockett
On TBR since: November 2014
Why I have taken so long: This book has been on my shelf since before I owned a copy. Now I have one and I still haven't read it. I blame constant new releases distracting me.
Crime: Hiding on the Kindle
Culprit: Stardust by Neil Gaiman
On TBR since: January 2015
Why I have taken so long: I got it for free on my kindle, and I have a problem with free kindle books. I buy them when I don't want to read them immediately and then they start to pile up. I haven't read half the stuff that's on there.
Crime: Light Reads
Culprit: Beyond the Kingdoms (The Land of Stories #4) by Chris Colfer
On TBR since: February 2015
Why I have taken so long: These books are pretty light reads, so I've been saving this one to read when I am stressed and need a happy book that's not too intense.
Crime: Hardbacks are Heavy
Culprit: Uprooted by Naomi Novik
On TBR since: May 2015
Why I have taken so long: I find it difficult to start reading hardback books of this size because I hold books over my head to read and have a tendancy to drop them on my face. Weak excuse, I know.
Crime: Too Many Pages
Culprit: All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
On TBR since: June 2015
Why I have taken so long: 500+ pages is a lot for a book in a genre I'm not familiar with. The threat of taking forever to read is very offputting.
What books are at the bottom of your TBR? Do your reasons for neglecting your books overlap with mine?

I am also guilty of dropping books on my face, which is why the Kindle paper white is awesome (although I've dropped that on my face too. *Blushes*.) I have to say I discovered your blog through the Top Ten Tues, but I've read a bunch of your posts today. Thanks for all your entertaining posts.
ReplyDeleteTrust me, I've been there. Dropping my kindle on my faceis a common occurence.
DeleteAnd ahh I'm glad you're enjoying my posts! x
