Wonderful Books to Read in One Sitting

It's really difficult to find the time to read a book in a single sitting. It's even rarer to find a book that CAN be read in a single sitting. But sometimes I come across a book that is just so easy to glide through - like they were designed to be devoured in a day. Here are 10 lovely books that I think you can do just that with.

Contemporaries like the books by Becky Albertalli and Alice Oseman are really easy to fly through. I found that with all of these books I had to pace myself just to stop reading them all in a day. It helps that their language isn't too heavy, and even more if the characters, their situations and their emotions are relatable, which they were in all of these cases.

Three more contemporaries that were speedy reads (although Because You'll Never Meet Me is more Sci-Fi/Contemporary than just plain contemporary). Kindred Spirits is particularly fast to read because it's literally the tiniest book. The other two took a bit longer, but I was still able to finish them both in a maximum of 2 days, and they are books that I'd gladly read over and over again.

However, Contemporary isn't the only speedy genre. Sometimes Fantastical books can be read in a day too. All three of these fantasy novels have very different tones, with A Monster Calls being the darkest and most heartbreaking, but also the shortest. It goes to show that small books can be mighty too, and should never go underappreciated.

Have you read any of these books? Did you enjoy them? What books have you or could you finish in a sitting? Is there a paticular genre you find easier to glide through?

    1. Nimona is great and, like most graphic novels, such a quick read. I cannot recommend Because You'll Never Meet Me enough - it's incredibly cute and is about a boy alergic to electricity (hence the fairylights).

  2. I've seen quite a few of these on some other list today, like: Simon Vs The Homo Sapien Agenda, A Monster Calls, and The Upside of Unrequited. So many of these are on my TBR list! I haven't actually read any of them yet tho. Great list!

    1. Thanks! I'm not surprised Becky Albertalli's books made a few lists - I often find that contemporaries are speedy reads. Some of these books are personal favourites so I'm glad they're on your TBR and I hope you enjoy them :D

    1. Simon is an incredibly loveable character and book! I recently finished Upside and I can't say I loved it as much, but it contained some really important ideas that I think need to be seen more in YA. I hope you continue to enjoy it!

    1. It's a really sweet, relatable and diverse book. I'm not always big on contemporaries and Upside felt like it lacked a drive in comparison to Simon, but the messages it holds still makes it really worth reading. I hope you enjoy it!

  5. NIMONA! I found Noelle on Tumblr a few years ago and her comics are the cutest things.

    1. I haven't seen A Monster Calls because it's not out here yet, but it's one of my most anticipated movies. The book was so moving despite it being very short and I'd definitely recommend it :)

  7. I can't believe I forgot Kindred Spirits. And just really meant to read Land of Stories, but haven't gotten to it yet. Bought first book for my niece when it first came out.

    1. I almost forgot Kindred Spirits just because of how short it is! The Land of Stories is a sweet and nostalgic series for me, and I save each new book for whenever I need a light read. I'd definitely recommend it :)

    1. She really has a good grasp of the teenage experience in her writing - I related to her characters so much, particularly in Radio Silence <3
