My Summer TBR

With all my exams and assessments recently, I've had barely any time to read. Now that they're all out of the way I feel like I have a lot of reading to do, and too little time to do it! So I've made a list here of 12 books I really want to read this summer.

False Hearts (Pacifica #1) by Laura Lam
There are a lot of Laura Lam books I want to read this summer. False Hearts has been on my TBR for a very long time and I'm happy to finally have a copy in my hands! Futuristic sci-fi isn't really my genre, but the premise was too interesting for me to not pick it up.

Shattered Minds (Pacifica #2) by Laura Lam
I was lucky enough to recieve an ARC of Shattered Minds via Netgalley, so it's likely to be my next read the second I finish False Hearts. It is set in the same world as False Hearts but acts as a standalone, and I'm interested to see what that world expansion looks like.

Shadowplay (Micah Grey #2) by Laura Lam
I read the first book in the Micah Grey trilogy, Pantomime, last year and really enjoyed it. The book left on a note that suggested there was a lot more story to tell, and I'm looking forward to see how the plot progresses.

Masquerade (Micah Grey #3) by Laura Lam
As I said, there's a lot of Laura Lam novels on here! Somehow I wound up with a lot of her books in my possession despite only reading 1 of them before. I love how the fonts on the above 4 covers are identical and line up perfectly <3

This Savage Song (Monsters of Verity #1) by V.E. Schwab
This was the first Schwab book I didn't actually like that much. Which is crazy because everything about the concept screams perfection. I was in a bit of a reading slump at the time, so I'm hoping when I reread this in preparation for ODD I'll like it more.

Our Dark Duet (Monsters of Verity #2) by V.E. Schwab
I am a terrible person when it comes to books and money and gorgeous covers, and I have preordered ODD despite not loving its predecessor. But that cover! That font! It's so much more stunning than the dull UK version (I have 2 editions of TSS, whoops).

Now I Rise (The Conqueror's Saga #2) by Kiersten White
It feels like so long ago that I read and fell in love with And I Darken - I need Now I Rise soon before I forget what happened! Historical Fiction/Alternative History is not a genre I'm too familiar with, so I have no idea how this story will progress, but I'm excited.

Ash and Quill (The Great Library #3) by Rachel Caine
The Great Library is such an awesome series, and I'm super happy to have an ARC of the third book from Netgalley on my Kindle. If this one is anything like the first and second books, I am bound to adore it.

Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero
I try not to request books from Netgalley on a whim too often, but Meddling Kids sounded pretty cool. I love a good mystery, and even more if it features a cool squad dynamic, and I think it will be interesting to see the Scooby-Doo-like setup in book form.

The Long Way to A Small, Angry Planet (Wayfarers #1) by Becky Chambers
My friend recommended this to me and I managed to find it on the Kindle store for 99p. I don't read a lot of space-set-sci-fis, but my friend made this book sound all sorts of adorable and I trust her judgement so I'm willing to give it a chance.

Lorali by Laura Dockrill
I've actually met Laura Dockrill and she seemed like a super cool person, but I still haven't read any of her books (I am terrible). Having a book partially told from the perspective of the sea is a really interesting concept, so I'll be hunting this down in the library soon.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone (#1) by Laini Taylor
I've heard countless things about this series but I still haven't read it. But now that it's summer I'm planning on doing a big library haul, and I know that my local library has a copy of this. I'm excited to see what all the love is about.

What's on your summer TBR? Have you read any of these books? Is there anything you'd particularly recommend?

  1. This is such a great TBR! So many great books here. I actually agree with you about This Savage Song; I've come to expect such fantastic things from Schwab that TSS was a little bit of a let-down, but I'm still excited for the sequel. I love the world-building and August is so precious.

I also very recently read and loved And I Darken! I'm so glad that I decided to read it when I did since Now I Rise isn't too far away now. Good luck with your TBR. :)

    1. Thank you! I agree that TSS was a let down. But I've heard great things about ODD and I still adore the entire concept so I'm still really looking forward to it!

And I Darken is fantastic. Plus it's always so great when that happens because you get to avoid the painful wait!

Thanks again and good luck with your reading too :D
