Things Books Have Made Me Want to Do

Top 10 Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
Reading has made me want to learn and experience so many new things.

1. Learn how to fight.
If our universe collides with another and we end up in some sort of dystopian fantasy world I want to learn some essential survival skills, or at the very least self defence.

2. Learn more about the experiences of others.
This is so broad but something that is very important to me. I want to learn what life was like in other eras for different people, but also about the modern day struggles of people in the minority. I think books are such an important way for people to share their stories and help others get a glimpse of what life is like being LGBT+ or a person of colour or someone with a disability or a mental illness. These voices are ones that are often on the sidelines and I think the written word really helps bring attention to them.

3. Escape reality.
This is pretty much the main reason anyone reads fiction. One of my favourite things about reading is how it feels so seperate from real life but always has a way of pulling you back into reality with parallels between the paper world and the physical.

4. Make a change.
For me, reading has highlighted some of the world's biggest injustices that we often overlook. Reading about these things helps me connect events to people's experiences and actually do something about it. Even if it's just talking about it, it can still help make change by raising awareness.

5. Go on amazing adventures with an awesome group of friends.
Some books like The Raven Cylce portray these unbreakable friendships that go beyond one lifetime and seem so infinite.

6. Go on a road trip.
I get travel sick so easily and hate being stuck in a car for too long, yet for some reason books have made me crave road trips.

7. Visit new places.
I'm not too big on travel, but I think one of the best ways to learn about other cultures is to experience them first hand, and books have made me want to do more of that.

8. Become a better writer.
Reading has inspired me to try different writing styles and techniques. The more I read the more I pick up on common tropes and so I try to subvert them to create something original and different to anything I've read before.

9. Appreciate the little things in life a lot more.

10. READ MORE BOOKS.
