TTT // Books Outside of my Typical Reading Habits

Top 10 Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
If you're new to my blog, then you may not know that I'm a little bit obsessed with Fantasy. The genre makes up a huge portion of my reading. I like to think my reading interests are quite broad, but this preference has me often neglecting other incredible genres. In 2015 I read so many good books outside of the fantasy genre, which has encouraged me to read even more widely this year.

Contemporaries

1. The Art of Being Normal by Lisa Williamson

2. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

3. Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Alberalli

4. Wonder by R.J. Palacio

Classics and Plays

5. The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde

6. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

7. Ghosts by Henrik Ibsen

8. A Doll's House by Henrik Ibsen

9. The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde

10. All My Sons by Arthur Miller

  1. This is a great list! Fangirl and Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda are two of my favorite contemporaries, and I love both of the Oscar Wilde works that you've mentioned here! I've seen the play all my sons as well, though I haven't actually read it, but it was definitely a great visual experience. Great list!

    1. I'm still not too big on contemporaries, but I did enjoy Fangirl and Simon vs. My favourite recent contemporary which isn't listed here is Seven Ways We Lie by Riley Regate - it's awesome!
I need to read more Oscar Wilde because I've adored what I've read of him so far. All My Sons sounds like it would be a brilliant experience to see - I've seen one of Miller's other plays, A Room With a View, which blew me away because it was so intense!
      Thanks for stopping by :D

  2. I have to say I didn't like The Picture of Dorian Grey or The Great Gatsby much, HOWEVER! I really can't wait to read Fangirl! :D It's meant to be amazing x

    1. That's a shame, they're 2 of my favourite books.
People really do seem to love Fangirl! Although I didn't love it as much as I hoped (maybe because of the hype) I found I could relate to it a lot and it was very sweet. <3

  3. I don't read a lot of contemporaries either, but Simon and Fangirl are two of my favorites - I still need to read the other two on your list though. :)

    Check out my TTT.

  4. Even though I don't read that much contemporary otherwise, I adore Rainbow Rowell. She's one of my favourite authors! I didn't recognise that version of the cover for a second, but I also recently read The Art of Being Normal and I did like it. (I mean, I felt like some of it used some tired tropes. But I enjoyed in anyway.)
I really want to read more classics this year. The Great Gatsby in particular! I've been meaning to read it for AGES.

    1. So many people speak very highly of Rainbow Rowell! I need to read more of her work, although romance doesn't typically appeal to me.
The Art of Being Normal isn't an incredible piece of literature, but I do agree - it was very sweet.
Gatsby is one of my favourites! I really recommend it and a bonus is that it's pretty short! :D
